PRC Buys a Lightweight Single for the club!

The PRC Board voted to bid on a lightweight King single that the Cambridge Boat Club was selling, and we now own this boat.

After much discussion, the board felt that another PRC Club boat would be a worthy investment for the club and its membership. Graeme was able to place a bid at the board's direction and the bid was accepted. The price for the boat was very modest. The boat will be arriving in the near future, and an announcement will be made when it is ready to row by qualified PRC members.

I want to advise the club members that there was much discussion regarding this purchase. At the 2011 Annual Meeting, the membership agreed to a spending moratorium on new equipment, at the request of the Land Securement Committee. However, it was felt by the board that this was a really positive investment and a good addition to the PRC fleet. The board felt that if we needed to liquidate the amount of cash it took to buy this new boat, the club could sell some under-used PRC equipment, or this boat itself. I just want to assure the membership that the board took into consideration the memberships request on limiting new equipment purchases in 2011 into consideration.

If you have any questions or comments about this purchase, please don't hesitate to email me or any of the PRC Board members.

Thanks,
Patty
